Not much of induced astigmatism after good phaco surgery

Through torsional phacoemulsification, the cataract is removed using a small incision that is self sealing, stable and without sutures. The incision size is about 2.5mm in width, which is large enough to implant a lens that can be folded. If the lens inserted is of non-folding type, the incision needs to be enlarged to 5 mm to 5.50 mm. In such cases, there is a need to put suture as the wound required is larger. The major advantage of torsional phacoemulsification over manual phaco is the ability to implant a foldable intraocular lens (IOL) through the smaller incision, with the attendant potential benefits of quicker healing and less astigmatism. The patients can resume their normal activity quicker.

At Roshan Eye Care Hospital All cataract surgeries are done by microincision phacoemulsification (MICP) to achieve zero spherical error.
